'Snailsham's' Snail Trail
A new snail trail is coming to Aylsham to celebrate the historic buildings in the town.
The snail trail will be comprised of 21 different snails, each created to a different design, made in a variety of materials. Each ”snail character” will identify a key historical feature of the Town. Each snail will have its own QR code to to follow to take you to the historical information about each building. There will also be a printed guide to follow if preferred.
There will be 21 snails in total. Six will be stone carvings created by Teucer Wilson, one will be a wooden carving and another will be made of metal. Four will be rubbing posts so you can collect snail images on the way round the route and the remaining snails will be illustrated by Aylsham based artists.
The centrepiece of the trail will be our giant snail painted by Aylsham based artist Mik Richardson. This snail will be outside the town hall - but the snail is currently nameless!! We need your help to name it!
Fill in the form below with your suggestion. The name will be unveiled at the opening of the trail on August 1st 2026
